- Summer bottle feeding her favourite (this was first thing in the a.m…she didn’t want to be in a pic)
- Giggles holding my favourite…I was holding her in my shirt, close to my heart yesterday, so Giggles wanted a turn.
- and Fireworks with his fav close to his heart
These puppies were found abandon in a box at a gas station here…BRAND NEW. Eye & ears closed…umbilical cords still attached.
Since it’s unlikely they got the first drink from their mama, the GSPCA warned us that there’s a high mortality rate (2 puppies died from the time I met them at 10:30 yesterday morning, to the time I picked them up at 3pm).
All the puppies made it through the night, so I’m extremely happy. So far, the remaining 5 puppies are all eating well, and are squirmy little things.
Since I don’t sleep as it is, getting up every 2 - 3 hours to bottle feed 5 puppies isn’t a big deal.
Oh, and now, Tambo looks HUGE to us (at his whopping 3.5lbs).
I’m sure we’ll be posting more pictures as the weekend progresses.

Last night was “sleepover” night at my house. Daddy slept with Fireworks, and I slept with Giggles (because Giggles is the biggest mama’s boy in history).
It was fun…the boys really enjoyed it.
I had the best sleep I’ve had in this house…mostly because I didn’t have to get up with Giggles (he usually comes in to our room at least once during the night). He was already with me, so we both slept peacefully all night.
This morning, I’m sitting outside, sipping my hibiscus & lime tea (finally found limes), while watching a cruise ship roll in.
Juniper is super frisky. Nacho and Tambo are laying by my feet watching her (I’m pretty sure they’re convinced she’s on crack). The boys are playing peacefully together. Summer is sleeping. And D is getting ready for the day.
Life feels totally perfect right now.

Good job, my man Fireworks.
Why my middle name the same as Daddy? Why I not named after Chuck E Cheese?
‘Member we eat Smarties at Nanny’s house? I want eat Smarties with Nanny again soon.
Promise? Pizza Promise? (what he called a “pinky promise” tonight).
You mean to me when you making supper. You say ‘You is mean. You is mean. You is mean person, River.’ (I have NO idea where he got this from…thinking it might be from watching Toy Story today?….this one worries me)
You such a cutie, mommy.

…but awesome kids, so life is good.
Oh, and it’s cooler outside today. Beautiful.
We finally broke out the paint. First time in the new house….Giggles painted like, 7 pictures…Fireworks painted 2….and I worked on the bigs year end reports for school.
- Summer snuggling Tambo
- Fireworks was a circus performer (he was twirling a baton and everything)
- Giggles was just being Giggles today….making me smile, driving me crazy, and never sitting still.
We took the dogs and hung out at the beach this afternoon. It was one of my favourite beaches…white sand, nice water for the kids to swim in, and there’s usually no one else there.
I’m ready for the kids to go to bed, so I can settle in for a movie night with my hubby.

And Giggles has already moved on to making the kind of mess I like…
….before passing out for a nap with Tambo.
I’m now going to snuggle with these two cute boys, and have a little nap to recharge my batteries.

Seriously, he is TROUBLE today!
He found the chalk, and ended up using it on every surface possible (including ”tattooing” his body).
The wood was his favourite, as it showed up well.
Giggles also decided to sneak into the fridge and eat TWO Kinder Surprises that Nanny sent down in a parcel (before lunch).
And he has stuffed several things in the refrigerator, and told us he has no idea where they are….including Summer’s inhaler and Fireworks new football.
I love my little Giggles, but can’t wait for nap time today!

- Giggles running
- Giggles is always riding his bike, his little friend is always riding his scooter
- Giggles and his friend
- little friend
- Summer playing with angles….Fireworks standing on a rock, pointing
- Fireworks rock climbing and watching the waves roll in

Juniper is the sweetest dog. There’s not a mean bone in her body.
Because she spent her whole life in the shelter, she’s weird.
Like, really, really, weird.
It’s like she has no doggy common sense. None. And she’s scared of everything that’s new (which right now, is everything). AND she barks when she’s alone and scared (which was all. damn. night. the first couple nights…it’s getting better).
She’s going to be a challenge for me…but a good challenge.
And as I type this, Giggles is still sleeping (it’s 8:00am). I’m sitting outside enjoying this view:
…while watching the hummingbirds, doves, mockingbirds, listening to all the beautiful songs and getting eaten by sandflies (not everything is perfect in paradise).
Oh, and yesterday, was Summer’s first day doing some rehab work with a very scared dog at the GSPCA. He’s a fear biter, and the whole board, except the director, wants to put him down. Summer is going to be working with him, to socialize him and get him to trust people (he is absolutely terrified of people).
Wish her luck on this awesome project!

3 bikes have been recovered!!
We don’t know many details….just got a tip that someone saw 3 new mountain bikes at the police station, so we stopped by, and ta-da!
There’s still 3 more out there, but this definitely lifted the mood around my house.
Thanks to everyone who sent positive vibes, thoughts and prayers to us!

So, this whole bike theft thing is still weighing pretty heavy on us.
We handed the police a couple of leads, and they’ve followed up on nothing. It’s useless trying to stay on top of them.
D is starting to become totally consumed with theft & safety…to the point he feels like quitting this whole venture.
It hasn’t affected the rest of us quite so much. Maybe because we don’t have as much “invested”….maybe because all he wants to do is take care of his family, and sometimes feels like he’s failing (he’s not).
Anyway, Fireworks’s wise words to his daddy today:
“Let God deal with the things they do,
‘cause hate in your heart will consume you too.”
Lyrics from a Will Smith song, Just the Two of Us. D bought the book version of this song when Fireworks was little, and it’s always been a favourite of theirs.
Fireworks chose the prefect lines to share.

- Summer’s selfie
We spent the morning at Hope City Beach yesterday. It was a much needed beach morning.
The kids explored.
The dogs played (we brought all 3).
I relaxed, and took in the smell and sound of the ocean.
- Summer loves taking pictures of the beautiful palms
- a huge piece of driftwood, with the end of a river in the background
- me lovin’ on Juniper
The tide was out, so it made the beach really deep…it also created this cool reflection. Summer noticed and took advantage of it when she could.
- Nacho having a blast
- Tambo posing
- where the river meets the ocean
- Giggles dragging a big palm branch to the river
- the big kids playing in the water…Juni ran into this photo unexpectedly
- Giggles on his “island” in the river
- and on his “boat” in the river
- Juniper and Nacho played
It’s nice to see Nacho playing with Juni…they’re both kinda quirky (she’s REALLY quirky), and it reminds me of the way he played with Boomerang before she died. Warms my heart.
Oh, and anyone who remember’s Boomerang, with probably remember the wrinkles on her forehead …Juniper has the same wrinkles, and same soulful, scared eyes.
Changing the subject…one of my favourite moments happened when Giggles found a big piece of driftwood, and a small piece of driftwood. He sat in the water at the edge of the river, and “painted” the big piece with sand, using the small piece as his paintbrush. He would dip the brush in the water when he was done, and then gather more sand onto the brush.
There was absolutely no prompting from me or the bigs….just a little boy, who was probably starting to get bored, so he created something wonderful to fulfil him.
My creative little soul.
He made many wonderful pictures, including fish, a cow, geckos, and a mango tree.
I love it.
- proud of his paintings
- he was telling me he’s not done yet
- a quirky palm Summer spotted. Perfection.

Giggles: “One day, a old man, named Dad, found a birdie and the birdie ate Dad, and Dad said ‘where are me?’ and the birdie ate all dad.”
Summer:“Oh, that’s so sad that the bird ate Dad.”
Giggles: (said with a sigh and an eye roll) ”It’s just a story Summer.”

- my sweet summer
- our sunset view at the new house…so thankful to be here.
- my new tortoise pen / herb garden…the tortoise pen used to be smaller than one of the covered area’s, so it’s huge for them now. Soon it will be half herbs, half grass & weeds (the tortoises love to eat grass and weeds, but seem to leave the herbs alone).
I’ll have tons more pics from our morning at the beach, but I just ran out of time today.

Juniper! I love this girl.
She’s totally stressed. So many new sights and sounds…not to mention the fact that Giggles only gets around our house by bike.
Juni was born at the shelter and has spent her whole life there (2 years). I’m so thankful to be the one to break her out of jail. :)
